Wattens is a market town located in the Innsbruck Land district in Austria and boasts of picturesque surroundings. However, Wattens is most well known as the home of the Swarovski crystal glass company. The town also has a long history and is believed to have been inhabited since the La Tene era. The first mention of Wattens was made in a 10th century document. Crystal World or Kristalwelten is one of the most prominent tourist attractions well worth a visit. This museum / theme park was opened in 1995 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Swarovski’s founding. The Chambers of Wonder exhibit features an entrance resembling a crouching giant. The exhibit is spread over a dozen rooms with different features. All the rooms are decorated with crystals in different designs. Crystal World underwent extensive expansion in 2015 and now features manicured gardens and a playground tower for children. There is also a Crystal Cloud, which consists of over 800,000 crystals and an interesting hedge maze shaped like a giant hand.
