Founded in 1904 this is the 2nd oldest aquarium
in the United States. The aquarium has a unique location next to a living coral
reef. The aquarium is home to more than 3,500 creatures representing almost 500
species. Among the displays there is Amazing Adaptations with seahorses,
seadragons and pipefish; Corals Are alive; South Pacific Marine
Communities including archerfish, clownfish, triggerfish giant clams and Jet
Set featuring creatures which move from place to place including the
Chambered Nautilus and Hawaiian Day Octopus. Other exhibits are the Green Sea
Turtles; Hunters of the Reef; Ocean Drifters; Hawaiian Marine Communities; Monk
Seals and more. The emphasis of the aquarium is showing off its unique
displays of coral reefs and the animals that live in the reefs. The aquarium
offers a number of "experiences" where you can get to know the marine creatures
up close. The entire facility is within beautifully lush landscaped gardens.
