New Ross is a town in southwest County Wexford, Ireland. It is located on the River Barrow and is around 20 km north east of Waterford. There are now more things to do in New Ross than ever before as it has become more tourist-orientated. You can visit the Saint Mary's Church, a Gothic building which is located at Church Lane. The church dates back to the 13th century but time has taken its toll and all that now remains is a ruin. Contained inside the ruin is a great collection of early medieval tombstones. Further, visit the Kennedy Homestead, the birthplace of the great grandfather of John. F. Kennedy, which celebrates the story of five generations of the Kennedy dynasty. You can also board the Dunbrody Famine Ship and step back in time. It is an accurate, full size, ocean-going recreation of the actual timber-built ship, which played a leading part in the 19th century emigration to the USA. Inside, actors bring history to life by re-enacting the conditions endured on board during the turbulent famine period. Further, at the New Ross North Quay, you can cruise and dine on board the Galley Cruising Restaurants while discovering the picturesque Barrow and Nore River. The river Barrow offers visitors unlimited activities such as angling and boat cruising. Coarse angling is plentiful in Oaklands Lake, for those who enjoy fishing. You can also simply go on enjoyable walks along the Barrow to feel the town in its true essence.
