For a unique shopping experience, visit Muelle Uno, a
waterfront open-air mall which offers stunning views of La Alcazaba, the Moorish
fortress. Muelle Uno offers a combination of modern shops on one of side of the
orange tree flanked promenade, while yachts bob on the water on the other side
of the promenade. The shopping area, built in 2011, is located in Malaga Port,
the oldest of its kind in operation in Spain today. It consists of a large number of shops and
restaurants, so that you can combine several hours of retail therapy with
excellent cuisine. The shops sell everything from clothes to jewelry, and from
shoes to home décor items.
Not only is this a good place for shopping and eating:
Muello Uno also hosts regular arts and crafts markets, as well as concerts,
films, art expos and other cultural activities. In fact, since its
inauguration, Muello Uno has become an essential part of Malaga’s cultural
scene.
Kids love Muelle Uno for its
various attractions, including playgrounds, Popyn Park with trampolines and
mini-golf, and Glu Glu Club, a free kiddies club service so that parents can
enjoy hassle-free shopping!
A visit to Muelle Uno is a good starting point to enjoy the
rest of what the area has to offer. You can visit the 38 meter high La Farola
lighthouse which was built in 1817 by Jose Maria Pery y Guzman. The 18th
century Baroque church Chapel of Muelle Uno is another interesting historical
landmark.
