This impressive tower stands 859 feet high with 68 floors and
is the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City. The building was designed by
American architect Carlos Zapata; construction began in 2007 and was completed
in 2010. The building has complex engineering and a unique design with the
distinctive helipad perched on the edge of the roof. Each floor is unique and
there are 6,000 glass panels forming the exterior curtain wall. The building
also has six floors of stores, a cinema complex, restaurants on the 50th
and 51st floors with amazing views, a food court and the Helio Bar
on the 52nd floor. Of the 68 floors most are offices with 16
elevators reaching all floors. The Saigon SkyDeck is an observation deck on the
49th floor.
At the SkyDeck there are English speaking guides,
interactive touch screen fact boxes and maps to explain the sites you see
below. There are 360° views of the city and Saigon River and binoculars to help
you get a better look. There are often art exhibitions on the SkyDeck.
If you are on a tight budget then visit the Helio Bar which
is three floors above the Observation Deck, has the same brilliant views but
even if you buy a few drinks it is still cheaper. There is a long Happy Hour where
you get 3 for the price of 2 Tiger Beers
