Bath is a city in Somerset famed for natural hot springs which bubble up in the Roman Baths, England’s first spa resort. The 1st century bath complex is the city’s top attraction and you can bathe at the Thermae Bath Spa or the New Royal Bath. In the 18th century the city’s Palladian-style buildings were constructed. Many houses bear plaques recording the names of famous personalities who have stayed here. Today Bath is a UNESCO site and has a reputation as a creative, unique and stylish destination. Royal Crescent is a row of 18th century houses designed by John Wood the Younger and built on a semi-circular street. The Circus is a building designed by John Wood the Elder. See the Theatre Royal built in 1805 and visit the Jane Austen Center. Visit the Museum of Bath Architecture; Holburne Museum and Sally Lunn’s House, built in 1482. Cross Pulteney Bridge (1769-74) which is lined with stores and leads to Great Pulteney Street. Bath Abbey has a beautiful façade featuring stone carvings of angels climbing Jacob’s ladder. Enjoy the outdoors along the riverside Parade Gardens. No trip to Bath is complete without having tea at the elegant Pump Rooms.
